I Will Make Known (Creation Of The Lullaby Album)

Lullaby Album - I will make known

Introduction: Lullaby Album

I am a forgetful person.  Making a habit of remembering is a continual effort, but one that God calls us to do.  I was reminded of that again this morning when my oldest daughter asked to read 1 Chronicles 16 at the breakfast table:

“Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!  Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works!” (vs. 8-9)

Seeds released a new record last week - When You Lie Down: Lullabies and Scripture Songs.  The idea of a lullaby album had been requested and tossed around for years, but now that it’s a reality, I want to “make known” the wondrous works that God has done.

The Recording of the Lullaby Album

Recording this project was a major step of faith.  We had no idea how the LORD was going to bring it to fruition, nor did we imagine how many obstacles we would face.  We just knew that God was calling us to do it and that He would make a way.

The first major hurdle was financial.  Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.” As a team, we bathed this project in prayer and committed every aspect of it to Him, and He acted. God abundantly provided through our Kickstarter donors, and we now have a new family of two hundred and twenty seven people who generously gave to help make this album possible.  Thank you!

The second major need was content. If you’re familiar with Seeds music, you know that God’s Word is the bedrock of every song, and that the verses used for each project are prayerfully and purposefully chosen. So when we started writing, we sought scriptures that would embrace the weary soul and be like a blanket of God’s strength and comfort.  Graciously, the LORD has provided an abundance of biblical truth for that.

We also wanted more than just music to fall asleep to.  We considered the parent listening at the end of a long day – or just trying to make it through the day. And we felt led to create a musical setting for anyone of any age seeking the Father for strength, rest, comfort, peace and hope.

Songs From the Lullaby Album

Regardless of the life-filter one listens through, the truth of God’s Word remains the same:

- You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

- Be still and know that I am God.

- Come to Me and I will give you rest.

- God is good and His steadfast love endures forever.

- His mercy and faithfulness never end.

- He is our shelter; an ever-present help in time of trouble.

- He makes us dwell in safety.

These biblical truths are for all of us, lovingly provided by our Creator.

Overall...

There were so many more God-provisions along the way that have left us brimming with gratitude. The end result is a deeply personal album with God’s finger prints all over it. The songs are literally from our homes to yours.  They’ve come from our family worship times, as well as from moments of tearful communion with the LORD in the prayer closet. They were written out of our struggles in parenthood, and from our tired souls longing for spiritual rest.  They are offerings of gratitude and praise, in light of the hope of eternity with Jesus. This record is an expression of our hearts, and we pray that it will become a part of your heart and home as well.

As I pause to reflect over this lullaby journey, I see God’s faithful and ever-present hand.  Amidst the many difficulties, there He was (and continues to be), our Help and Deliverer.

Remembering is good.  And often times, rest is found in the remembering because we can see God sovereignly at work.  Regardless of the ever-changing climate of life, He remains constant.

We are blessed to have the privilege of setting Scripture to music. Everyday, we pray that God will use Seeds to help get His Word to the ends of the earth, and that our listeners will receive it in their hearts. So know that you are being prayed for, and when you lie down tonight, may you rest in the truth of God’s Word.
