Years ago I saw an object lesson on this, that stuck. The leader held out a stick and asked a student (me) to take it. I tried, but he would not let go. I tried real hard, he still did not let go. I gave up and let go of his stick. He utilized this verse to show that we do not wrestle God’s promises away from Him, but rather just hold on and trust…not giving up and letting go. At the appropriate time when I no longer struggled, he let me have the “stick”…like the promises of God.
