Welcome to the SEEDS FAMILY BOX
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise!
Give thanks to Him; bless His name! For the LORD is good;
His steadfast love endures forever, And His faithfulness to all generations.”
Psalm 100:4-5
Psalm 100 is an incredible worship song in the Bible that tells us to come to God with thankfulness and praise. As the verse reminds us, we praise God because He is good and His love and faithfulness continue to all generations. He desires for us to teach our children about His goodness, love and faithfulness.
We are thankful to get to encourage your family as you seek God. This month we have some powerful new tools for discipleship in your home. Let’s jump in so we share these new resources for your family!
DEVOTIONAL DIPPERS
We love this simple, yet powerful new family devotion series from 10ofthose.com that helps families talk about God’s Word together as they share a meal or family time.
Take two minutes to watch this YouTube video that illustrates how it works. https://youtu.be/r_y2fCDPSqM
They outline five easy steps for using the Dippers devotions:
1. Grab the container and take out a Devotional Dipper stick.
2. Read the topic of the day and
the Bible passage.
3. Read out the question and discuss it together.
4. Pray together and encourage your children to join in.
5. Put the dipper stick back in the container.
We believe you will enjoy getting your family into the Bible withDevotional Dippers this month!
WHAT EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PRAYER
Another great resource from 10ofthose.com is a title from a new series called “What Every Child Should Know About…” by best-selling author Nancy Gutherie. The focus of this book in the series is PRAYER.
Nancy explains in child-friendly language what prayer is, how and why we should pray, and the things we can pray about. There is a Bible verse for each topic, and a prayer for children to make their own. This book will in- troduce children to the gift of prayer and will encourage them to enjoy speaking to their father God.
We have seen God move through prayer as we have raised our children and walked through both the blessings and the difficult seasons of our lives. This is a wonderful opportunity to make prayer a greater part of your family culture.
THANKSGIVING SPOON
We wanted to share this idea with your family that has been a blessing to us. It has helped us pause and share what we are thankful for year after year. The tradition is simple and everyone can participate. Here’s what we do:
Prior to eating our thanksgiving meal, we gather our family and friends into a large circle for a time of thanks- giving and prayer. We take the Thanksgiving Spoon and begin to pass it around between our family and friends.
Whoever has the spoon will share one or two of things that they are most thankful for from the past year. When that person is finished sharing,they will pass the spoon onto the next person and so on. Once everyone has shared, we designate someone to pray and thank God for His abundant goodness.
This time sets the tone for the meal and helps everyone focus their thankfulness toward God. We hope it blesses you this year!
2018 SEEDS THANKSGIVING TREE & CARDS
This is another activity that we have done in our own homes and it has helped us cultivate thankful- ness in our hearts. We included a similar activity in our November Seeds Family Box last year and have build on it for this Seeds Family Box.
We have included a 22” x 16” Seeds Thanksgiving Tree poster for you to use as a creative activity to give thanks to God.
We have provided 3 sheets of paper including 24 leaves to be shared with everyone in your house- hold. Distribute the leaves to each family member and have them write something they are thankful to God for and hang it on the Thanksgiving Tree.
Once you have created all of your thanksgiving leaves, play the song “Give Thanks” from Seeds Of Character: https://www.seedsfamilyworship.com/product/ seeds-of-character-vol-6/#
Once you have all placed your leaves of the Thanks- giving Tree, circle up as a family and have each person pray for at least one of the things they placed on the tree that they are thankful to God for.
Psalm 105:1-3:
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; Make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him; Tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name;
Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
