Rise and Be Honored: Single Moms

Sarah K Patrick

Introduction

This week we’re doing a series for in honor of Mother’s Day entitled, “Rise and Be Honored.” We have all seen it depicted that when a man or woman comes into the throne room of a King, they show honor by kneeling. When the King chooses to honor the one before them, he tells them to rise.

It is with this in mind that we named our series as we did. We feel God, our King, wants to show honor to women this week. We believe He wants to validate stories and bring recognition to moms, and women, everywhere. Each day we will highlight a new group of moms, both physical and spiritual – those who have celebrated and those who have grieved over those they mother. We hope you will join us by giving honor to the women in your life as well.

We also have a fantastic giveaway (see bottom of post for details) with lots of new prizes each day. Make sure to honor the women in your life in the comments below and on our social media profiles.

It’s going to be an exciting week! We hope you will join us!

Day 3: Single Moms

Every year at Christmas we read and study the details surrounding the birth of our Savior. We marvel at the great plan of God that includes a tiny, sweet-smelling baby born in a stable. We wonder how Mary felt, how Joseph felt, and if the shepherds really understood the gravity of the moment.

Isn’t it interesting to note a young, single girl carried God’s son? God allowed the birth of His son to be enveloped in a story that could be easily scandalized or misunderstood. God chose for His son to be counted among the fatherless and the single mothers. He is passionate about both.

So, in honor of our Mother’s Day series, Seeds Family Worship would like to say to you, “Rise, and be honored.” Thank you for working so hard and being a champion. We know your path requires you to carry a heavy load, but you do it so well. Your children are strong and confident because of the way you love them and care for them. We know there are days when you feel tired. But, we see the way you shine and the way you tackle each day with perseverance and grace.

The Lord is my light_mountain

The future is bright for both you and your children. God loves being a father and He especially loves being a father to those who need one. God has a beautiful future planned for both you and your children. His plan is full of restoration and hope. He is passionate about you and aware of each detail of your life. You never walk this path alone.

We know this amazing thing you do each day isn’t just for you. It’s for all of us. We watch you faithfully carry your heavy load and we are inspired. Your strength and the gracious way you live makes us stand stronger and live more graciously. We watch God come along side you and our faith deepens. Our world is better because of you and your children.

We know at times we can say and do ungracious or hurtful things out of ignorance. We’re so sorry. We want to come along side you and help you carry your load. We want to be your community.

You are a treasure.
